Christian Youth in Action (CYIA) is a short term, summer ministry designed to train you and other young people in effective and engaging ways to teach children about God. By completing the training program, you will become a Summer Missionary or Missionary Assistant with Child Evangelism Fellowship and teach 5-Day Clubs, a dynamic club ministry for kids, throughout our 5 county area. This unique experience can help you acquire life-long skills that will benefit the ministry of your local church and your relationships with others.

Training

Training begins with 4 sessions in May held locally. Then, in early June there is a 6-day statewide training held on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN. It is a safe facility that is well suited for individual instruction and group learning for the CYIA students from all over Indiana. This is followed by one week of training in your local area with hands-on experience teaching a live 5-Day Club with real kids!

Summer Missionaries
(For students age 14 and up)


​During the CYIA training these students will be equipped to teach and lead an entire 5-Day Club including teaching Bible lessons and counseling boys and girls to receive Christ as Lord and Savior. 

Missionary Assistants
(For students age 13 and sometimes 14)


​During the training these students will be equipped to lead games, teach memory verses, songs and missionary stories and learn other skills necessary to assist in a  5-Day Club.

Putting Those New Skills
​Into Action!


​After successfully completing all the required training, you will travel in teams to various locations throughout our community and teach 5-Day Clubs during the summer for 3 to 6 weeks. A team can teach up to 3 clubs each week. These clubs are often attended by kids who do not regularly attend church or do not attend church at all. You will be able to take the Light and Hope of the Gospel to them in their apartment complexes, neighborhoods, and other community locations.

Costs and Support


​The cost is approximately $800 per student which covers the costs for training, teaching materials and travel expenses. We encourage and help you to raise these funds from your church, family and Christian friends just as you would for any missions trip.
